22 youtube channels banned in india
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, using emergency power under IT Rules 2021, has ordered the blocking of 22 YouTube channels, three Twitter accounts, one Facebook account and one news website. The blocked YouTube channels had a total viewership of 260 million. These accounts and channels were being used to spread sensitive and false information on social media and fake news on matters related to India's security, foreign policy and public order.
📵Apart from YouTube channels, three Twitter accounts, a Facebook account and a news website have also been blocked. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has told that the IT Rules, 2021 have been used to block these channels. The total viewership of the blocked YouTube channels was more than 260 crores. These channels were spreading false news on social media on sensitive issues like India's foreign relations and public order. Apart from this, false news was also being spread about national security.
